I didn’t give up blogging, I’m sure some of you were worried and in search of a novel to fill the void of my long winded personal views on life & witty dry entertaining humor. Stop the search, I still have more to say. I have just been a little busy with life and work... I had to give my son a month to read that “leadership” post. He’s still not through... Just kidding I don’t even think he’s clicked on it or realized it’s about him. That’s okay I don’t blog for his approval or praise. I already know I’m the best mom he’s ever had, and always will be. If you’re wondering what’s kept me so busy the last few weeks well here’s the scoop. My son had all his wisdom teeth extracted, not an easy time for him or for me. Being mom and doing his share of house cleaning duties was definitely tiring! Thank goodness for amazing friends, or I would have lost all my sanity. On top of that, it was fall break. Two whole weeks my son was home with no school. That’s not a luxury most get being self employed, fine by me! I enjoy my work and it pays better than doing my house cleaning. Two of my favorite gals & a long time client friend have had health issues. When people I love aren’t well it tears at my heart strings. Work has been hopping with hair to do, thankfully for me that’s usual. I may have bitten off more than I could chew throwing an elaborate party for baby “T” who’s still in her Momma’s womb. I’m grateful to have super awesome friends and a Mom that rocks, they made sure I got it all pulled together, helping with everything from sanding blocks to making food. In addition to that, I was overcome with a sudden urge to give back to our community, so I’m in the works of hopefully joining the board of the local Club for YOUth. If any of you are in search of a way to pay it forward I have a great idea for you! Our community has a ton of kids and the Club for YOUth is always accepting donations to help them. Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
With all that important stuff going on in life my idle hours of the day were all being used. So with that being said, I thought maybe it would be nice to read & learn something about all of you. I came across a saying years ago that read... “Find 3 hobbies you love, one to make you money, one to stay in shape, one to be creative.” I actually printed it and have it on my wall at home. It’s a great little moto. How much better can life get than daily loving what you do? It also goes hand in hand with my other favorite quote... “Live your best life.”
I’ve made “three hobbies” into my new favorite game at work. I have teenagers in my hair chair all the time, they like to answer most everything with a one word reply, that’s boring! But this usually gets a real response. They all have great answers and you find out a lot from just three simple questions.
Here’s my 3... One to make you money- Hair, of course! When your passion and career collide you rarely dread Monday’s or going to work. One to keep you in shape- (This can be mind, body or soul.) Writing, posting my blogs. It eases my mind, keeps my noggin in smart working order. One to be creative- Anything that has to do with shears or scissors. Hair, sewing, crafty shit of all sorts. I regularly keep on hand just about every haircolor known to man in my color cabinet at work. You never know when a client may be in the mood for an overhaul or finally say “I don’t know, you pick”. At home I always have all items needed to create custom party decor, throw together a card for any occasion, sew up a blanket, or help my son make an epic school project. If you ever need something from Staples or JoAnn’s check with my mom or me first! My son says Maga (my mom) & I are borderline hoarders, I say we are collectors and save ourselves from always having to go to the store. Now it’s your turn, let’s hear your 3 hobbies. There are no wrong answers and don’t worry no one is checking your spelling or grammar...
